Insurance arrangements for Universal Removals Customers

Important– Please Read Carefully

Following a change in FSA regulations it is now not permissible for Freight

Forwarders and Removal Companies to sell insurance cover as part of their

services unless they are regulated by the Financial Services Authority. The aim

of these regulations is to allow clients total freedom of choice on how they insure

their goods during transit.

To assist our clients, Universal Removals have negotiated specific rates with

Reason Insurance. This does not affect a client’s right to choose their own

insurer. The cover is available to purchase online directly from the insurance

company and allows you to immediately download your insurance documents.

We strongly advise you to take out additional insurance to cover your goods for

their full value whilst in transit, our trading conditions like many Removal

Companies here in the UK limit our liability to £40 per box/item as detailed within

the inventory for loss only which is prepared when we collect your goods. However this only applies to European Moves by Road and in our own trucks and professionally packed by our own Staff.

If you feel that this is not sufficient then we advise that you take an additional

policy to cover you for full value of your goods.

You should be aware that items that you pack yourself can only be covered for

total loss of the item and not damage, this is standard practice of most

insurers. Cover for damage can only be effected on items that are professionally

packed. If you require this type of cover and have not requested us to pack your

items please contact us as soon as possible to discuss the options.

Items that are packed by us can be covered for damage (all risks) provided you

take out the additional cover . Items packed by yourselves can be covered for loss only.

If your goods are of a valuable nature you might want to consider taking our Full packing service out for a small additional cost, only then can you fully Insure your goods .

Their is no standard cover for worldwide moves going by Container in a Vessel by Sea you should take out A Specific cover in this case.

How to arrange your insurance cover online

Please go to the Insurers website www.reason-insurance.com and click on the

following:-

 " Picture of Container " 

Where there is a request for the “Removers Code” please insert your

unique code, which is “WAVE-2”

Failure to do so will mean that you will be charged a different premium

The first screen that you will see are the terms and conditions of Reason & Co.

(S.E.) Ltd and the Key Facts both should be read and acknowledged as being

accepted before you can continue to the quotation pages.

All the fields will need to be completed except for “via” and there is no need to

enter a figure in all of the sums insured fields, only where applicable.

Press Continue to receive your quotation.

Included on the Quotation Summary are the Terms of Business and the credit

card charge.

If the quotation is acceptable, press continue and you will receive a summary of

cover, which will have to be ticked at the bottom in the box to say you have read

and understand our terms and conditions. At that point you will need to insert

your own password, a security issue to enable you to view and download the

certificate and associated documents. Once you have ticked to say you have

read and accept our terms and conditions and provided your unique password

you press to say you have accepted our quotation, you will move on to the

payment screen and will need your credit card details. If at any stage you wish to

change any details this can be done.

Complete the payments page you will automatically move onto our final page

confirming that your certificate has been issued and the number allocated to it.

At this point, you can then view and print the certificate and will receive an e-mail

from us attaching a plain text copy of the document, including our terms of

business. You will also receive a second e-mail from World-pay confirming the

payment.

Once you have received confirmation please ensure that you forward a
